Professor Andrei Peresypkin, Vice-Rector for Strategy, had organised the training, and has no doubts as to its value in boosting the ranking of the University, saying,

“The ability to prepare a high-quality article for publication in a top journal, is a priority confronting the teaching and research staff at our University. The Web of Science database search tools contribute to the preparation of such publications.”
Dr Valeria Kurmakayeva of Clarivate Analytics, talked about at what stages and how WoS can be used in publishing and research activities. She went into the basic principles and structure of the WoS Core Collection, and how best to create an author's profile in WoS. She included tips for searching and selecting a journal for publication, and searching for articles for literature review, including full texts. She also detailed the usefulness of a thematic search in WoS, and how to work with its results.
Participants were then asked to perform individual tasks on the basic thematic and advanced search in WoS using truncation symbols, logical terms, and exact search terms. They were then asked to create their own user profile and 'ResearcherID' profile, and use the 'EndNote' bibliographic manager. A trying but rewarding day for all involved.
