As part of the month of voluntary service in the Belgorod Region and the All-Russian cleanup initiative, “We are for Cleanliness,” a significant event was held to tidy up the Arhierejskaya Grove, a wooded area within the city.
In anticipation of the long May holidays, over 100 students and staff members from Belgorod National Research University (BelSU), along with representatives from local enterprises, gathered to clear a large area of the Arhierejskaya Grove of accumulated garbage and branches. The rector of Belgorod State University, Evgeniya Karlovskaya, also joined this large-scale environmental initiative.
“It is always wonderful to work for the benefit of our region – whether in the forest or at the university, anywhere in our beautiful Belgorod region. Especially on a sunny day like today, with little wind, everyone is smiling and here at the call of their hearts,” shared Evgeniya Karlovskaya.
In addition to this cleanup effort, another environmental action took place at the BelSU equestrian school, where participants planted 110 lilac seedlings that had been pre-grown in the university’s Botanical Garden. Among the varieties planted were “Den' Pobedy” (Victory Day), “Velikaya Pobeda” (Great Victory), “Vechernyaya Moskva” (Evening Moscow), and “Vechernij zvon” (Evening Chime). These spring-blooming shrubs were arranged in a star formation.
