The vice rector for the international cooperation of BelSU Vladislav Kuchmisty, the deputy vice rector for the international cooperation Mikhail Trubitsyn, the head of international cooperation department Mikhail Pisarenko and also the leading expert on analytic and informational support of the international activity Natalya Konnick also took part in discussion of important bilateral questions in education.

Welcoming the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ecuador in Russia Julio Prado Espinosa, rector of BelSU, professor Oleg Polukhin, emphasized that Belgorod State University and Ecuador are connected by the fruitful relations in education.

“In November, 2017 we will celebrate a tan year anniversary of our cooperation, – said Oleg Polukhin. – About one hundred students from Ecuador annually enroll to our university. They show great interest in medical specialties. However, I am sure that in process of further development of our cooperation, they will choose technical specialties, which we actively develop, as well. Two years ago the International laboratory of radiation physics where scientists from BelSU and Ecuador conduct the researches, has been created”.

Increase in number of students from Ecuador became one of important issues discussed at the meeting. According to Julio Prado Espinosa, it is disturbed by the third-party intermediary organizations (non-state structures) which conduct commercial activity. Partners have agreed that for improvement of a situation it is necessary to build up the relationship directly at the level of educational institutions.

“Thus, the number of students will increase, along with the number qualified specialists, who will return to our country – Julio Prado Espinosa has noted. – We are interested in such directions as informatics, biochemistry, nanotechnologies”.

For development of the further relations in education and to increase the number of foreign students, rector of BelSU Oleg Polukhin has suggested colleagues to revive preparatory faculty in Ecuador for students who want to study in Belgorod State University. Besides, he has told the South American partners about initiative of higher education institution of creation of associations of graduates in foreign countries and recommended to take part in it.

Then the staff of BelSU has conducted a tour for guests of honor. During the tour they have got acquainted with infrastructure facilities of the university.
