The student debate jointly organised by the International Information Centre, the Debate Club, and the Law Institute brought together students from Russia, Afghanistan, Syria, Jordan, Burkina Faso, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Egypt, Ecuador, and Nigeria who study at different BelSU Institutes: Law, Medicine, Earth Sciences, Economics and management, Intercultural Communication and International Relations, as well as Pharmacy, Chemistry, and Biology.

Welcoming the participants of the Boundaries of Tolerance debate, Olga Lyutova, Director of the International Information Centre, expressed her hope that the debates would contribute to better understanding both the legal and moral aspects of being part of a diverse community.

“Our university is a multinational team. Its members often differ not only in citizenship, but also in age, gender, native language, and religion. Fortunately, this does not prevent us from being a united and friendly team, because we respect each other's uniqueness. But where is the limit of the freedom to be special? What can be understood, accepted, respected, and when is it time to say, ‘Stop! I can’t stand this anymore’?” noted Olga Lyutova.

The participant students prepared a discussion of various aspects of tolerance. Teamwork assignment required careful preparation, clear articulation of arguments and the readiness to respond effectively to the opponents' standpoints. The interaction of participants from different cultural environments, including international students, enriched the discussion with a variety of opinions and contributed to a more complete understanding of the complex issues of tolerance.
