On March 26, 2020, the Minister of Science and Higher ��è��Ƶ of the Russian Federation, Valery Falkov, signed the Decree №. 20-02-02/65 on extending the tenure of the Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor Oleg Nikolayevich Polukhin as the Rector of the Federal State Autonomous ��è��Ƶal Institution of Higher ��è��Ƶ "Belgorod State National Research University" from April 7, 2020 to March 21, 2023.

Polukhin O.N. was elected rector of the Belgorod State University for a five-year term on March 21, 2018 by the decision of the NRU "BelSU" workers and students conference. When concluding an employment contract with the rector, the Ministry of ��è��Ƶ and Science of the Russian Federation was guided by the norm of the Russian Federation Labor Code, according to which state rector posts are replaced by persons under the age of sixty-five years old regardless of the term of election to this post. Thus, the term of the contract concluded by the Minister with Polukhin O.N. two years ago expires when Oleg Nikolayevich reaches 65 years old - April 05, 2020.

At the same time, Article 332 of the Russian Federation Labor Code grants the founder the right to extend the rector`s term. The Academic Council of Belgorod State University, by unanimous decision on October 29, 2019, petitioned the Ministry of Science and Higher ��è��Ƶ of the Russian Federation to extend the tenure of Oleg Nikolayevich Polukhin as the rector for 3 years, until the end of the term for which he was elected in 2018. The Governor of the Belgorod Region spoke in support of this decision.
