Dr Olga Pavlova, Deputy Governor of Belgorod Region, came to Belgorod State University to chair a meeting of the Regional Council of Rectors. The meeting focused on the benefits of efficiency in higher education, using the 'Lean Model of Production' championed by Japanese industry
The University is well-placed to deliver such a lecture, as we received a National Award in 2018 for the Best Regional Design Idea for èƵ. The Rector, Professor Oleg Polukhin, explained the philosophy of Lean Production when it comes to education,
“The impetus for the 'Thrifty University' project using the philosophy of Lean Manufacturing, came from our desire to develop a systematic approach to creating value for our consumers. For us, customers are primarily students, but they also include employees and external partners. The main effect is to reduce all types of waste, while never compromising the safety of students and university workers. These values guide the way we determine the policies, goals and principles of the Lean Production system in our management system.”
